The Friends of New Earswick Swimming Pool are a volunteer-run community group based in New Earswick with members from across the city. They formed in 2017 in response to the threatened closure of the swimming pool and have since then been in negotiations to take over the running of the pool, with a hand-over date set for January 2019.
Community Action for Nature (C.A.N) is a voluntary group based in New Earswick. They work to maintain and improve the natural habitat of New Earswick - encouraging all who are local to the area to come together to create, develop and maintain natural spaces in their community. The Sleeper Path Community Garden and Allotment is based along the river Foss, just by the footbridge to Huntington. Run by 'New Earswick Sharing Together' or NEST, they have regular opening times and take part in special events. They welcome groups such as the Scouts and Cubs to explore, learn and enjoy this magical space too- visit their website for more information or to plan a visit.
Film at the Folk Hall are a volunteer-run community cinema based at the Folk Hall in New Earswick. They show a regular monthly film, plus additional events such as membership evenings or children's events. They have a team of volunteers with a range of skills, from technical expertise to marketing and are always welcoming to new members of the group. They make sure everyone is welcome to film nights with a bar, refreshments, relaxed seating and an inclusive atmosphere.
